Cargo Worthy is the working-builder’s grade. A unit rated CW has passed an international inspection certifying it’s still fit to carry freight across an ocean one more time - square frame, intact deck with no soft spots, gasketed cargo doors, no daylight visible through any seam, and a live CSC plate riveted to the door. That last item is what local inspectors and ADU plan reviewers like to see during structural sign-off.
What you give up versus a One-Trip is purely cosmetic: light surface oxidation, faded carrier paint, the occasional dent from years of port handling. What you save is roughly half the price. For any project where the steel will be covered by spray foam, cladding, or interior finishes, those cosmetic differences disappear the moment construction starts.
This is why we steer most Aurora-area ADU, tiny-home, backyard office, and serious workshop customers to CW first. The grade gives you structural certainty at a price point that leaves real budget for the finish work - insulation, windows, electrical, plumbing, cladding - that actually determines how the finished space looks and lives.
